Ingredient Breakdown
Mini marshmallows – I recommend using mini marshmallows because they’re easier to melt. Don’t use stale marshmallows because they will make your Rice Krispie Treats stale.
Butter – I always recommend using unsalted butter but salted butter works if that’s all you have on hand, just be sure to omit the 1/4 teaspoon of salt.
Salt – enhances flavor.
Lucky Charms cereal – don’t use stale cereal because it will make your Rice Krispie Treats stale. I recommend setting aside some extra marshmallows for topping the treats to make them look extra pretty!
Rice Krispies cereal – you can use any brand of crisp rice cereal. Don’t use stale cereal because it will make your Rice Krispie Treats stale.

Pro Tips For Lucky Charms Rice Krispie Treats
- Weigh your ingredients using a kitchen scale! Measuring ingredients by volume is not accurate; baking is a science after all!
- Make sure your parchment paper hangs over the sides of the pan for easy removal after cooling!
- Use fresh ingredients! Stale marshmallows or cereal will result in stale Rice Krispie Treats.
- Don’t over cook the marshmallows otherwise your Rice Krispie Treats will become very hard after cooling! Be sure to remove them from the heat once they’re just melted.
- Don’t press the Rice Krispie Treats too firmly into the pan otherwise they will turn out very dense and hard.
- Set aside extra Lucky Charms marshmallows for topping the treats to make them look extra pretty!
