Ingredient Breakdown

Chex cereal – I used Rice Chex Cereal but you can use whichever flavor you prefer!

Almond Butter – I used Justin’s Classic Almond Butter but if you’re allergic to almonds you can use any other type of nut butter, sunflower butter, granola butter or even cookie butter!

Chocolate chips – You can use whatever kind of chocolate chips you prefer but I usually use semi-sweet.

Confectioners’ sugar – used for coating the muddy buddies.

M&Ms – I used red, white and green M&Ms to keep this snack mix on theme for Christmas.

Pretzel twists – adds some saltiness to the snack mix! You can also use pretzel sticks.

How To Make Reindeer Chow Without Peanut Butter

1. Add Chex cereal to a large bowl. I prefer using a bowl/container that has a sealable lid to make it easier to toss with the confectioners’ sugar later on.

2. Add the almond butter and chocolate chips to a small bowl then microwave for 30 seconds and stir. Repeat until completely melted and smooth.

3. Pour the melted chocolate mixture over the Chex cereal then stir until all of the cereal is coated.

4. If using a bowl/container with a lid: add the confectioners’ sugar directly to the cereal. Close the lid then shake the bowl/container until all of the cereal is coated in sugar.

If using a zip-top bag: pour all of the cereal into the bag then add the confectioners’ sugar and shake until all of the cereal is coated in sugar.

5. Mix in the M&Ms and pretzel twists. Store Reindeer Chow Without Peanut Butter in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week.
