What Is Red Velvet?

Red velvet is not chocolate cake dyed red. The ingredients that create red velvet’s unique flavor are buttermilk, white vinegar and a little bit of cocoa powder!


- All-purpose flour - Granulated sugar - Cocoa powder - Baking soda - Salt - Buttermilk - Canola oil - Egg - White vinegar - Vanilla extract - Red food coloring


- Unsalted butter - Cream cheese - Confectioners' sugar - Vanilla extract - Salt

STEP 1: Combine the dry ingredients. STEP 2: Combine the wet ingredients. STEP 3: Fold the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Scoop batter and bake. Decorate as desired!
