These Melted Snowman Brownies are a super festive treat to make during the holidays. They’re fudgy, adorable and perfect for kids!

Melted Snowman Brownies

These Melted Snowman Brownies were inspired by the Dandies Vanilla Marshmallows that I received in the “Winter Wonderland” November 2024 box from Fikabröd Box! As soon as I saw the marshmallows I knew that I needed to make a snowman themed treat with them as soon as possible.

To make these festive treats, you simply have to bake up a batch of my favorite fudgy brownies then top them with a marshmallow, cover it in white chocolate ganache and use icing to give your snowmen cute little faces! This recipe is such a fun and easy way to upgrade your brownies for the holiday season. Plus kids will love making them just as much as they will love eating them! 😉

Why You’ll Love These Melted snowman Brownies

  • They’re quick, easy and fun to make.
  • Kids will love to help bake and decorate them. Most of all, they’ll love to eat them! 😉
  • The recipe can be easily doubled and baked in a 9×13 inch pan.
  • They’re perfect for the holiday season!

Ingredient Breakdown

Granulated sugar and brown sugar – both sugars are necessary for sweetness and texture.

Vegetable oil – provides texture and moisture.

Butter – provides flavor and texture. I always recommend using unsalted butter but salted butter works if that’s all you have on hand, just be sure to omit the 1/4 teaspoon of salt.

Cocoa powder – gives the brownies their chocolate flavor! I always use natural unsweetened cocoa powder.

Eggs – binds the ingredients and provides structure.

Vanilla extract and salt – enhances flavor. Always use pure vanilla extract instead of imitation for best flavor.

All-purpose flour – just a bit of flour gives the brownies structure while still keeping them fudgy.

Chocolate chips – you can use whatever chocolate chips you prefer but I usually use semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips. You can also use chocolate chunks or chopped chocolate.

Marshmallows – I used Dandies Vanilla Marshmallows to make the snowmen but you can use whichever brand of marshmallows you prefer!

How To Make Melted Snowman Brownies

1. Make the Brownies: Whisk the granulated sugar, vegetable oil, butter, brown sugar and cocoa powder in a small pot over low heat. Remove from heat once the butter is melted and the mixture is smooth.

2. Whisk in the eggs, vanilla extract and salt until well combined.

3. Fold in the all-purpose flour until almost combined (there should still be streaks of flour). Then fold in the chocolate chips until just combined. Pour the batter into the prepared pan.

4. Bake at 350°F for 22 minutes or until the center is just set. Cool to room temperature before slicing into 9 squares.

5. Make the White Chocolate Ganache: place white chocolate in a heat proof bowl. Heat the heavy cream in the microwave or in a small pot over medium heat until it just begins to simmer. Pour the heavy cream over the chocolate then let sit for 2 minutes. Slowly whisk together until combined.

6. Place a drop of white chocolate ganache onto the center of each brownie square then top with a marshmallow. Next, cover each marshmallow with the white chocolate ganache (I like to use a piping bag to do this). Set aside to cool while you prepare the icing.

7. Make the Icing: In a small bowl mix the confectioners’ sugar and water. Divide in half and dye one bowl orange and one bowl black. The icing is thick but you can add a little bit of water at a time until you reach your desired consistency. Decorate the snowmen as desired once the white chocolate ganache has set. Store Melted Snowman Brownies in an airtight container for up to 2 days at room temperature or up to a week in the fridge.

Pro Tips For Melted Snowman Brownies

  • Weigh your ingredients using a kitchen scale! Measuring ingredients by volume is not accurate; baking is a science after all!
  • Don’t overmix the batter after adding the flour. There should still be streaks of flour when you add the chocolate chips.
  • Don’t be tempted to over bake these. They will still be a little gooey when you remove them from the oven but they’ll continue to bake as they cool.
  • Use a metal pan! Glass pans retain heat for longer resulting in unevenly baked brownies.
  • Make sure your parchment paper hangs over the sides of the pan for easy removal after baking!
  • Use high quality white chocolate for the chocolate ganache! It will taste better and be easier to melt. I recommend Callebaut or Ghirardelli.

      1. I have a question, I want to make these again but don’t have heavy cream this time. Could I use evaporated milk as a substitute to make the ganache? If so, would it be the same amount & do I need anything else added to make it a similar consistency?

        1. Hi Brittany, I’ve never tried making chocolate ganache with anything except heavy cream so I’m not 100% sure but I don’t think evaporated milk has a high enough fat content. Please let me know how it turns out if you try it anyway!

Maybe you can try skipping the ganache and just dipping the marshmallows in melted white chocolate before placing them on top of the brownies?
